(Almost) Wordless Wednesday- Latest Kate Edition

These cards are all from a deck of artist inspiration cards I keep in my office for people to choose the ones that speak to them. The artist is Kate Allen, who is a mental health author and illustrator. This set of cards is all work appropriate, but if you are looking at more on her website, they are not always work language. I really like them because they are so soothing and also very realistic and normalize mental health concerns. I hope they inspire you today! Here’s her website if you want to see more. https://www.thelatestkate.art/

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday- Star Trek

Of course we had to make matching outfits and the Husband wore his Starfleet shirt. No one said anything a out them, except the ticket taker who said “Our Star Trek exhibit is down the hallway to the left.” 🙂

Deep Space 9!

“You shall be assimilated!”

Janeway’s chair and uniform, just for my Dad! She’s his favorite Captain.

This was a really cool exhibit! I enjoyed seeing the history and thought behind the different evolutions of the show. I’m currently on Deep Space 9, so tried not to read any spoilers! Hope you see some things you recognize if you’re also a Star Trek fan!

Thoughtful Thursday- Ice Cream Edition

The featured picture is the good luck ice cream for the wedding, gelato from a local place near the wedding. 🙂 The Husband had Salted Caramel and I had Italian chocolate chip.

So the ice cream shop- Fenton’s, featured in the last scene in “Up” was in Oakland and we, of course, had to go.

Cookie dough for the husband.

Chocolate pb crunch for me.

Enormous banana split for the SIL’s friends. I snuck some of the strawberry ice cream and it was yummy! My inlaws had mint chip and strawberry milkshake. The SIL’s boyfriend had a strawberry banana milkshake. They were all really good. 🙂

Stay tuned tomorrow for a post about tea!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesdays

Mondays are typically a craft post, but I haven’t finished many projects this week. I’ve had more work, so less time to be crafty. So this post will be a combo post. I did finish two bellydance hip skirts with tassels. I have vending events coming up and needed to have some more stock on hand. Both of these were from the UFO project bin, so that was lovely.

The day I started on one of these skirts was extremely frustrating as well. I discovered there was an obvious flaw in one of the backing pieces and then discovered that I had absolutely nothing else that would work with the fabric. And I had no ribbons for waist ties… None of the right colored thread… Not enough of the right colors for tassels… It’s a wonder I didn’t quit on the spot. There may have been some unladylike language. The dog was a little concerned.

Hopefully this weekend I can get some of my other projects done as well. Enough words. Here’s some pictures.

Wordless Wednesdays

An Almost Wordless Wednesday

Sitting here with the dog and one of my many handmade quilts, I can’t help be grateful for what I have. I am grateful for being taught how to entertain myself, learning to sew from my Mom and Grandma, and learning how to write from my Dad. I’m grateful for a supportive spouse and that I have a house to gradually fill with handmade items.

I also think we can all use a break from uncertainty and ickyness. So in that spirit, I’m going to try something new and start posting pictures on Wednesdays of things that inspire me or that I am happy with or about. Maybe something that I post will make someone’s day a little brighter.

Taken by me in California, not sure where.

Inspiring cookbooks

Fancy-pants on my second quilt attempt ever, a long time ago. Made from my grandmother’s vintage aprons and my modern aprons.
